That's an obvious typo. You must have meant 1962, Victor.

I think caste (rather than religion) offers a better explanation into
the post-1961 election results in Goa, when the Congress dominated the
rest of India. But the role of saffron politics on some networks of
freedom fighters (for instance, the Azad Gomantak Dal) also explains
the subsequent politics in some ways. Of course, many expats are
simply clueless about such realities ... many here too of that time
would have similarly been. FN
