The use of Red beacon is wide spread by all and sundry by enlarging the list by different states. The authorities have never challenged or fined the violators and their arrogance prevented the police in taking suitable actions. It is not understood why the Judges, Income tax officers. Vice Chancellor, MLA and MP. Including Zilla Parishad and hosts of others want to flaunt their status and demonstrate arrogantly, that they are breed apart. It is ludicrous that infamous Asharam and his son behind bars were proudly spotting red beacons on their vehicles with impunity. All the VIP’s, VVIP’s consider it as a special qualification and privilege adding to their social standing. These red beacon cars unnecessarily inconvenience and infringe on the normal citizens by restricting their free movements; At times these red beacon cars drive wives to markets, to social functions, children to schools in blatant misuse and abuse of this facility, The children of the Ministers and wives often use their cars. They seem to derive pleasure in demonstrating their importance over normal citizens and feel superior over ordinary mortals,. It makes the users elated, as if they are aliens, a special breed different from others. Having enjoyed this privilege far too long, it may not be surprising, that they bring in an hurried ordinance to negate the Supreme court judgement of doing away with the Red beacons
It is believed that red is a symbol of emergency, to get quickly as possible, It was noted that some terrorists were found to be in possession of red beacons with the clear intentions to inflict damage undetected. Only the pilot car carrying the VIP`s and other constitutional authorities are rightly permitted to do so to clear the way . Even the permission of blue coloured beacons appears to be aberrations, if suggested in the wisdom of the learned judges The proliferation of red beacon cars by all and sundry was a real nuisance to the society and the intervention of the S.C was a a necessity. It is binding on all states to abide by this directives The implementations of laws is what matters and determination of the police to fearlessly enforce the law and book the violators.
