Even if one does not work for 35 years one still gets a pro rata pension; if a couple, there is a minimum that has to be paid! Really the State pension is not enough to sustain a dog, it is the benefits that make up the difference or Company pension - buying an Annuity now is also dismal. All is not lost though, not everyone knows about the economy of Britain and in particular of London! One could easily sell their house/home in London and live like a Maharaja in Goa/India or even Portugal….
