Not to put too fine a point on it at Christmas season but as usual we are
subjected to a brainless, pointless message by the author.

What does he want to say?

That Goans needing help are ungrateful and that we should not help them.

That newly arriving Goans are scammers in the fashion of some Nigerians.

That Goans should not emigrate for a better life; enough that we who are
already here have done so.

That Goans arriving in London must do the same as East African Goans did a
generation ago i.e. worked hard and prospered. Does the author assume that was
only his monopoly or that he forgets that unlike in his days good jobs are no
longer there for the asking but that despite this, new immigrants do what is
required to get by. Perhaps he is not aware enough to know Churchill's famous
"KBO" - keep buggering on - something immigrants do all the time.

Do "mongrel societies" revolve around "tablets". What is the author's
prescription for preventing newly arrived Goans in UK from becoming a "mongrel
society".

Melvyn, your work is cut out for you. Since Goans in Goa are well-to-do and
Goans in Swindon are not, the cadbury chocolates you are fond of taking for
distribution in Goa are best doled locally.
