Rewriting History. Rahul Gandhi stated That RSS killed Mahatma Gandhi, Why rake up the past of 60 years plus for polarisation of votes ? An attempt to confuse the voters and poison their mind will not be achieved. Voters are not interested in past history for election gimmicks and emotional stirrings. It appears that Congress is devoid of issues after being mauled by rampant corruption at every level and are facing a bleak prospect of return to power Interjecting irrelevant historical incidents in the present campaign is a worthless deviation, which is bound to backfire.What ever views that were expressed by Sardar Patel earlier are irrelevant after the court verdicts. It was widely believed that Nathuram Godse was a member of RSS and presumed to have been influenced by hate campaign, steeped in ideology of communal virus by Hindu Mahasabha fanatics against the Mahatma. Sardar called RSS patriots in 1949 lifted the ban on RSS, gave them a clean chit and requested them to join the Congress, as he stood himself corrected and the story was buried in history pages. Resurrecting it now is clearly deceptive move to colour BJP prospects. Youth of today will not be mislead by remarks in poor taste, as it is not fundamental to the requirements of present day aspirations
Technically and directly the clear link between RSS and Nathuram could not be established by the investigations at the time of murder and, once he left the organisation after 1930. Gopal Godse his brother Jan 28, 1944 declared had not let RSS. Godse did not represent the people at large in his mad act of violence against the apostle of peace. The murder occurred in Independent India and it is sad. Deen Dayal Upadaya and even Advani have publicly uttered against the nomenclature of the title of Father of Nation attributed to Mahatma,In 1999 Bal Tacakery spewed venom of being proud of Godse on BJP platform without bating an eyelid How ironic that Sarvakar and Mahatma photos are opposite one another in Parliament The BJP under the leadership of Modi is building the biggest statue of Sardar in Gujerat after ignoring him for so long, It is a happy occasion for the BJP to have realised the merit of Sardar after all. These are pure election strategies to pull wool over the eyes of public. At different points of time in history , the judicial commissions and individuals have expressed divergent views of the involvement of Nathuram and his umbilical cord with RSS, but all controversies have been laid to rest, though it is possible for strange reasons to disagree with concluded investigations on this issue The BJP has threatened Congress to sue for defamation of utterances of Rahul Gandhi It is well established practice of political parties to confuse voters with irrelevant issues at the time of elections and divert the attention on burning issues of the day Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
