And Coimbra is one of the oldest universities in continuous operation, in the world (since 1290). The University of Coimbra has approximately 20,000 students, and hosts one of the largest communities of international students in Portugal.
The quality of output of Indian institutions has much to be desired. It appears that most, if not all, are theoreticians, not much given to practical applications. I know at least one civil engineer who never held a tool in his life, ‘til he came to Australia. How many engineers, bio-medical and micro-biology graduates are working in banks and institutions un-related to their field of study? Why? Compare that to the Escola Medica and Escola Tecnica graduates, where emphasis was on practice followed by the theory behind the practice. Just my thoughts.
