Cecil, as I mentioned, I have been "trying to understand". It struck me that there are lessons to be learnt.
So one still needs to do more homework here. But I do recall the time Jerome Mendes (if not mistaken) made it possible for the old Konkani films to re-enter cine theatres in Goa. I also remember the soft-spoken Andrew Greno Viegas who wrote and struggled to promote his book on Konkani film. (Isidore Dantas has a more recent book in Romi.) The job of subtitling Konkani film is long awaited too. Just a few thoughts from someonevwhi knows little...
