Hi Sunith and Cornel, I am bewildered as to why people on this forum, with a good sense of humour, who write so well should harp about the caste divide !!
People look down on other people for various reasons, you may have too little money, you may not have the right connections, you may not know a sigle politician, the reasons are endless and they do not have anything to do with caste. Do we allow these people to scar our psyches forever or do we pick ourselves up and go on with our lives the best we can. Of course we do !! I lived for 2 years in Sto. Estevam, teaching in a school there. The kids smelt of lavender and roses, all the men are in the Gulf or on the ship and the kids had an endless supply of soaps and pens. The people disliked us, reason, we were outsiders "Bailim" the local drunkard, Jeron threatened us so many times. The mothers looked down on us, we earned not even a quarter of what their husbands did. Hatred can be of many types and not all have anything to do with caste.
