Dear Editors, Reporters and the Goan media community: *(160 Goan media email IDs marked in Bcc)*
Warm greetings from GITP! Goa IT Professionals (GITP) is a registered association of IT professionals from the Indian and global Information Technology (IT) and IT enabled Services (ITeS) industry with specific focus on promoting the cause of IT-ITeS industry in Goa. With our vision of “Goa – The self-sustaining and eco-friendly IT-ITeS Innovation capital of India by 2024!”, we are ready to mobilize our 7500+ members to intellectually and physically contribute towards achieving the same. Based on the vast experience of our members in the global, Indian and the nascent Goan IT-ITeS industry we have put together a long list of practical ideas for accelerating the Goan IT-ITeS industry to new heights and presented these in a memorandum to the Goa Government and Goan Political Leadership via email on July 17, 2014. We have also categorically pinpointed the areas from planning to implementation in which GITP is ready to actively contribute. IT-ITeS industry is one of the most Green, Clean and Intellectual industries in the world ideally suited for the highly creative, passionate, literate and, environmentally and identity conscious Goans. And also for Goa given its semi-urban infrastructure across the state with reasonably stable electric power supply and high-speed broadband network. That covers all key essentials for the IT-ITeS industry, which will also generate significant local employment for a wide range of skill sets from highly technical to semi-technical and service oriented tasks. However the traditional Indian IT-ITeS model based on large IT Parks for economies of scale – which has led to widespread urban unsustainable saturation in some places – needs significant adaption leveraging latest Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) advancements for long term relevance and success in a unique place like Goa. All this put together will help reverse the prevalent brain drain of Goan educated workforce and, with the right regulations in place, to arrest the influx of undesired workforce into Goa. The recommendations in our memorandum can help Goa effectively tackle such chronic issues and preserve the much treasured Goan identity, heritage and environment. As a progressive group of passionate Goan professionals with a strong desire to see our beloved Goa prosper in the right direction we at GITP continue to work on our Goa IT-ITeS mission while awaiting Goa Government’s direction on the immediate next steps that we could take together. We seek whole-hearted support in our earnest endeavor from the Goan media which has always upheld issues of significance to Goa and Goans. Kindly give this matter as much publicity as possible in your esteemed daily to create maximum impact and attention from the Goa Government and Goan political leadership in view of the Assembly session starting next week. We look forward to and are grateful for your co-operation and support. *Highlights on how GITP proposes to collaborate with Goa Government for IT-ITeS Industry promotion:* • GITP will help prepare the Goa IT-ITeS Policy with contributions from global experts in the field • Partner with Goa government in modelling and implementing a Virtual SEZ network of inter-connected IT-ITeS MicroSEZs spread across Goan villages for ultra-light carbon footprint • Provide inputs to Goa Government on school and college curriculum revisions for greater focus on latest technological trends, innovation and entrepreneurship resulting in high-grade industry-ready workforce output from the Goan educational system • Provide an online advisory and support forum to the small and medium Goan IT-ITeS companies • Mentor and actively promote local Goan IT-ITeS startups and entrepreneurs within our GITP network to enhance their visibility and help expand their businesses • Partner with Goa government on e-Governance solutions for Goa • Help Goa government collate information about Goans in the Indian and global IT-ITeS industry with the objective of facilitating reverse brain drain into Goa • Physically contribute through active on-the-ground participation in Goa government’s efforts to spread IT-ITeS awareness in all strata’s of Goan society to minimize ill-informed opposition to the proposed large-scale IT-ITeS in Goa. *GITP Contacts:* *On Facebook:* https://www.facebook.com/groups/Goaitp/ *Gurudev Naik: *gurudev.n...@gmail.com, +919167260039 *Vincent Toscano:* vincent.toscan...@gmail.com, +919765410020 ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: goa itp <goa...@gmail.com> Date: Thu, Jul 17, 2014 at 11:48 PM Subject: GITP Memorandum to Goa Govt. & Political Leadership to promote IT-ITeS Industry (July 2014) To: Cc: gurudev naik <gurudev.n...@gmail.com>, vincent.toscan...@gmail.com, abhay_bhamai...@rediffmail.com, Yash Ganthe <yas...@gmail.com>, Alton Pinto <altonpi...@gmail.com>, Amogh Desai <desai.am...@gmail.com> *Addressed in Bcc to:* Honorable Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Manohar Parrikar, Honorable Minister for Information Technology Mr. Francis D’Souza, respected Council of Ministers and the Political, Bureaucratic & Business leadership of Goa *Addressed in Cc to:* GITP Core Committee members who have authored this memorandum with inputs from many other GITP members ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Honorable Chief Minister, Minister for IT, Council of Ministers, and, Goan Political, Bureaucratic& Business Leaders: The 7500+ members of our registered *Goa IT Professionals* (GITP) association salute you for your selfless work towards our beloved, unique and special Goa. And we write to you today to share with you our ideas on how Goa, its people and its economy could be taken to an altogether new level of clean, green and intellectual growth through the transformational power of Information Technology (IT) and IT enabled Services (ITeS) industries. We assure you our commitment and seek your support and blessings in this mission. We all know about the tremendous global transformation in last 2 decades unleashed by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) through knowledge democratization, automation and people connectivity, and the fabled Indian IT-ITeS growth to a place of pride in the Indian industry. IT-ITeS industry is one of the most Green, Clean and Intellectual industries in the world ideally suited for the highly creative, passionate, literate and, environmentally and identity conscious Goan people, and, to Goa for its semi-urban infrastructure across the state with reasonably stable electric power supply and high-speed broadband network – 2 key essentials for IT-ITeS industry. However the traditional Indian IT-ITeS model based on large IT Parks for economies of scale – which has led to widespread urban saturation nearing unsustainability in some places – needs significant adaptation leveraging latest ICT advancements for long-term success in a unique place like Goa besides addressing the very valid Goan concerns on protection of local identity, heritage, environment, sustainability and employment. Goa government would need to provide IT-ITeS companies an environment that allows them to focus on their business with minimum administrative overheads through alignment of relevant aspects of its functioning with the core needs of the IT-ITeS industry. We will need to strive to set high standards in providing Infrastructure, Industrial Climate, Operational Facilitation and Industry-oriented Education to make Goa the most favorable IT-ITeS destination in India. In the accompanying memorandum we present you Goa-specific ideas based on our group members’ rich experiences across the global, Indian and the nascent Goan IT-ITeS industry. Additionally we present you our commitment to actively participate in the implementation of these and even other relevant ideas to make the Goan IT-ITeS dream a reality at the earliest. Hence we humbly request you to evaluate and actionize with urgency these ideas to bring sustainable, eco-friendly, non-disruptive and intellectual progress to our and your most beloved Goa. Do tell us how you would like us to participate in this mission and what are the immediate next steps we could take together. Let us all Goans lead the way for the rest of India on new sustainable development models for our future Goan generations to look back with pride at all of us living today. Jai Gomantak, Viva Goa!
