Parrikar says that Indian Muslims in the Gulf are called Hindus. That’s either a lie or plain ignorance. I have lived in the Gulf for 47 years and travelled all over the Mid-East, and I know first-hand that all Indians, whether Christians, Muslims or Hindus are addressed by them as HINDI, meaning Indians. Many Goans by birth, like myself, who went there pre-1961 from Goa, were distinguished as FARANGIS, taken for “Foreigners”, since they held Portuguese nationality and travelled on Portuguese passports which were later replaced by Hindi (Indian) passports.
