Dear Goanet readers, I know for sure there are certain candidates who claim that they are been chosen for Congress ticket, and at a same time these same people take part for parties, birthdays, mingle with other parties especially BJP and offer bouquets of flowers to Parrikar , hugs them and praise them. Such people are seen openly doing that, and if you question them the answer is; THIS IS POLITICS. These people are real fools and everybody knows their sincerity towards one party. Definitely same candidates who are mingling will loose their deposits. Surprisingly Congress High Command still is in dark, is it possible that the local Congress Leaders get Scotch or big present or gift so that the seat of Congress is fixed to them? People of Panjim are wise and they will never vote these traitors; they are aware of their gimmicks. Aires has already listed some of the favorites candidates for Panjim seat by election unopposed, but I am sure there are also few elements in the list, who will betray the electorate and dance with both the parties. Old record OF THESE CROOKS is known to the electorate, Hope people are aware of these chaps who will surely make U-turn and people should discard them with full force if they are considered for candidature whether it is Congress or BJP. The new MLA will have a very short term of just under two years. The election process would also incur a huge financial burden on the State exchequer, while the outcome of this election would politically not change the current equations either for the ruling party or the opposition. It would therefore be prudent for the people of Panaji to unanimously choose a candidate unopposed to hold the mettle as MLA of Panaji till the next Assembly elections which are scheduled for March of 2017. Shrinivas Dempo, Dr Oscar Rebello, Sabina Martins, Annand Madgavkar, Dr. Vinaykumar Raikar, Haji Shaikh Mustafa Kadar, Adv. Harshvardhan Bhatkuly, Prof Ketan Govekar, Bevinda Collaco,Tony Dias amongst others are some names that could be considered. These are distinguished citizens who have in their own away been pro-active in society and contributed to the betterment of Panaji but may not want to soil their hands in the political rot. However if persuaded as the unanimous and unopposed choice then Panaji could be saved of an unnecessary election and the uncalled for unnecessary financial burden on the tax payer. It is high time the election laws are amended to prohibit elected representatives from walking away half way through their term. While a person should not be allowed to contest from more that one constituency there should also be a prohibition on a person already holding a post to contest another election till he completes his tenure at the post he already is elected. Unnecessary by-elections is something unacceptable which our country also cannot afford. The only by-lection should be in the case of a death of the elected representative.
