Appropriately, no Indian politician joined Hollande's march. This is because
every political party, and almost every Indian
agrees free speech has limitations—this society is neither willing nor capable
of tolerating Charlie Hebdo-style provocations.

The great, pioneering American journalist and media critic A J Liebling coined
a relevant truism—"freedom of the press is
only for those who own one". This is applicable to Goa, to Paris, to every
newspaper and television outlet across the world. There is
no such thing as free speech, and it provably does not exist in the countries
and societies currently grandstanding about the issue on the
world stage. The real truth is nobody is Charlie.

VM,
This article piqued my interest such that I went to see who wrote it.

So - my congratulations.

I will add one observation though. Increasingly, more people are getting their
news not from the traditional media outlets like TV, radio and newspapers. The
younger people are now being fed thru social media. I find that a lot of what
passes for news now, is copy and paste and often this results in herd
mentality, rather than the search for the truth. Je Suis Charlie is a prime
example.
