National and State parties Congress, UPA I, UPAII has ruled for 6 decades and more with intermittent rule by BJP, NDA Janata parties. The experiment did not continue long enough. BJP at one time had just two members in Parliament and CPI, CPM have faded into oblivion of sunset too. Suddenly BJP has assumed the position of major National party sweeping some states unexpectedly, mainly because the voters were eager for change from routine and status co and articulation by P.M.Modi in a convincing way. Can two party experiment borrowed from West take roots in India, which is a country of diversity of religion, caste, language, culture etc?Which party now can replace Congress. Congress is now disintegrating at both levels at an alarming rate, unless it bounces back. While Congress is being labeled as family outfit, BJP is seen as a party with hidden agenda of Hindutva as it secret plank
It is interesting that regional parties in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kashmir . AAP and others are being seen as an alternative to monolith outfits. The answer of stability, progress is not convincing at present time. In a federal structure of our country the local aspiration, progress and development can receive concerted attention by regional parties, The Centre needs the states for ratification of certain legislation's and hence the intention to win or destabilize regional parties in most states is to push by force reforms without getting states to willingly co operate in their best interests. The centre being all pervasive with majority has led to unbalanced growth and allotment of resources unevenly to the states ruled by major party The performance of AAP is an indication of voters concerns because one of the major propaganda is that for better progress it is desirable that state and centre belong to the same party. It is a definite pointer to bias and preferential treatment. Presently the centre with its powers tries to stifle legitimate needs or delays financial resources. The centre thus holds a strong hand making states to fall in live or be deprived of development and which explains some states being less developed due to preferential treatment at National level ,The experiment with birth of regional parties is gaining in strength and it will spell demise of National Parties Nelson Lopes Chinchinim
