Today the BJP Government in Goa completes three years. It has been 36 long
months of confusion, contradictions, and controversies. Despite having in
March 2012 been given a clear mandate by the people of Goa, the BJP has
miserably failed to deliver on the Parivartan that was promised by way of
Good governance and Zero tolerance to corruption. It has only been a string
of U turns on all promise made.

The initial euphoria after this government took over soon subsided with the
common man on the street let down and belatedly realizing that by voting
the BJP they landed from the frying pan into the fire.

Goa has been kept without the much needed Lokayukta and State Information
Commission leaving room for corruption to further flourish and with no
transparency in governance. There is also no sign of the Regional Plan
while the BJP’s selected coterie of builders are having a field day. The
Mining issue has been mishandled.

The only major achievement of this government is of having been able to
high-handedly stifle almost the entire voice of the Opposition. The
Government has played to the gallery on the issue of Special status for Goa
but has done nothing to control the alarming and unacceptable levels of
migration into Goa. The escalating levels of crime is a matter of grave
concern. The garbage crisis is heading to a point of disaster.

Under the BJP the rampant corruption continues unabated. Only the agents,
brokers and beneficiaries have changed with scams continuing galore.
Ministers and ruling MLAs have been on unnecessary foreign jaunts burdening
the already depleted State coffers. Inspite of the financial crisis
confronting this government it has been hiring thousands of more government
servants to accommodate the BJP party cadres.

After having reneged on its solemn promise to throw the Casinos out of the
River Mandovi, to this Government’s credit Goa today has become the
nation’s hub for gambling, prostitution and the narcotics trade.

The Aam Aadmi in Goa were promised ‘Acche Din’ but have had to bear the
brunt of ‘Kacche Din’ under the ego puffed Manohar Parrikar and now
political dwarf Laxmikant Parsekar. With two more years yet to go, the
worse is yet to come.
