The BJP in Goa was elected on its solemn promise of Zero Tolerance to
Corruption. But over the last three years all we have witnessed is that
fake promise time and again reneged with it being all the way Zero action
against the Corrupt.

The latest is the case of Laxmikant Kundaikar who has just retired as
Deputy Director of Transport. The Anti- Corruption Branch of the Vigilance
department after a very laborious probe observed that Laxmikant Kundaikar
had caused loss to the State exchequer to the tune of a whopping 1.47
crores.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar earlier this month while turning down the
plea of the Anti Corruption Branch to register an F.I.R against Laxmikant
Kundaikar, very high-handedly directed that the corruption case against
Laxmikant Kundaikar be closed only once again proving that it is ‘Acche
din’ for the Corrupt.

The reasons for closing this corruption case are obvious and one too many.
Laxmikant Kundaikar’s wife Shubhada was the BJP candidate in yesterday’s
Zilla Panchayat election from Corlim Constituency against Janita Madkaikar,
a former Sarpanch of Old Goa and wife of Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar.
The BJP also funded and fuelled two other independents in an attempt to
split the anti- BJP votes. But with the people now having realized the
dubious and devious agenda of the BJP, it would be known tomorrow when the
votes are counted, the fate of those BJP polytricks played at Corlim.

Laxmikant Kundaikar who is a close relative of North Goa MP Shripad Naik is
tipped to be the BJP candidate from Cumbarjua Constituency at the 2017
Assembly elections. The BJP may have found a candidate who would need no
training in Corruption, but that 1.47 crore corruption case though now
closed by the government may come to haunt the former Deputy Director of
Transport once he steps the election fray.
