With the Goa Police having failed to trace and nab the now absconding convicted former Rural Development Minister Mickky Pacheco, the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has forfeited all moral authority to continue as the Home Minister of what is now clearly emerging as a lawless State. Besides did Laxmikant Parsekar not display sheer political bankruptcy by inducting on November 15th last year as a cabinet Minister someone already convicted by the High Court.
The Police have now informed the Court that despite all their all out ‘strenuous’ efforts they have been unable to locate and arrest Mickky Pacheco. This cock and bull story nobody will buy as we all know that Mickky Pacheco who is an MLA supporting the ruling coalition is on the run with the tacit support and blessings of the Government. The Police, Mickky’s family and his right-hand Lyndon Monteiro know very well where the fugitive is hiding as they have not filed a missing report though he is untraceable for almost a fortnight. But for how long will he evade arrest as he has no option but to undergo that six months jail sentence for having assaulted an Electricity department Junior Engineer in 2006. Over the years Mickky Pacheco got away slapping one too many. This six month sentence which has now been upheld by the Supreme Court of India may be a consolidated punishment for all his slapping. Mickky Pacheco has always been bragging that he has full faith in the Judiciary, but by now absconding he is displaying utter disrespect and contempt to the order passed by the highest Court of the country.
