Gallery Gitanjali in association with The AssagaoMehfil will be hosting the first “*Fontainhas Mehfil: Monsoon, Romance, Music*” on Friday, August 14that 7pm.
* FontainhasMehfil* is part of Gallery Gitanjali’s ongoing series of Monsoon Friday events, entitled *Fontainhas Fridays *and promises to be a magical monsoon evening of intoxicating music at the Gallery Gitanjali. The AssagaoMehfil has been enthralling audiences in the beautiful village of Assagao since early 2013, when Chinmaya Dunster, Sarod player and environmental film maker, and Sandeep Srivastava, vocalist and composer, created the monthly concerts. Over the past two years, the *AssagaMehfil* stage has hosted many impressive Hindustani and western musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists and dancers from Goa, other states of India as well as from Canada, Spain, Portugal, Israel, France, UK, Iran, Russia and USA. All artists present their own original compositions. The open air and intimate concerts at the magical outdoor venue of “Hotel Astoria” became an instant hit with the many music lovers in North Goa, attracting an eclectic and deeply loyal international audience to each evening event. And now, for this monsoon, the *Mehfil* is spreading its wings and coming to Panjim at the beautiful Gallery Gitanjali in historic Fontainhas. Performers for the first *Fontainhas Mehfil* include the *AssagaoMehfil*’s very own Sandeep Srivastava, singer/composer, accompanied by Goa FC’s official percussionist, Carlos Gonsalves, Vishnu Shirodkar on keyboard and Tukaram Bitye on tabla. Also gracing the *FontainhasMehfil* stage is the talented Goan singer/songwriter, Joanne Fernandes, who will present her own compositions accompanied by guitarist, Vijay Xavier.
