Goa Dairy on nine pins Entry of SUMUL appears to sound death knell to Co operative Diary in Goa There are 18 dairies doing business in Goa and Goa Dairy has never objected to their presence, It is said the purity of packed milk is the safest for Goa Dairy. Official outlets either indent less to push other brands at more profit or the GD is not in position to supply demand, If the milk farmers here are satisfied, why do they not increase production.? Facts; 175 dairy societies, 19000 dairy farmers, collects 70,000 litres daily.imports 20,000=litres. Processes 90.000=litres supplies to 1200= official outlets, consumer demands 4 lakh litres daily, Considerably shortfall fuelling demand. Will SUMUL compete for supply locally affecting GD supply? Govt has failed to control even with the post of Registrar from Co operative society. Kamadhenu scheme has inherent defects. Delay in subsidies and other benefits Cow mellas sell cows at Rs 45000= costing Rs 20,000= The yield per cow is 7-8 litres instead of 15-18 litres. Private purchase allowed by Govt, but they are also cheated on actual yield per cow. Will it benefit the farmer and the consumer, it is a hope in waiting ? Will the Goan milk farmers be displaced?. SUMUL is already in Goa for the last 2 years .Goan youth are moving away from agriculture in spite of allurements. Is there a sinister move to favour political heavy weight as rumours are doing round What about arrangement not to permit another dairy in Goa, time alone will tell, As of now officials are singing a different tune of completion, demand and supply The consumers at the moment are subjected with spurious products, unchecked, unverified and certified by authorities
