This month's Goanet operations sponsored by an Anonymous Donor
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This post is not to review the posts of some outstanding Goanetters, who in
recent days made a virtue of retrieving archived e-mails. This thread is rather
to discuss the principle of that practice. Are Goanetters the web version of
"pack rats"? Do we have among us the e-mail version of what in the American
neighborhoods is often referred as "Junk-Yard Dog"?
Frankly those who are good at retrieving stored e-mails suggest they do not
have the ability to write their own material. Yet, they are a wannabe
provocateur; or a master at using old posts out of context, and thus a thrower
of rhetorical bombs.
I hope Goanetters could learn from the post / web link forwarded by Gabe. To
quote: The authors suggest applying a four-step checklist (the acronym is SEND)
before you send any email. S stands for Simple: make the email as succinct as
possible. E is for Effective: pay attention to past mistakes and learn from
them. N is for Necessary. If an email isn't N, delete it. D stands for Done,
but actually you're not, for even as you press "send", the authors say you
should be asking yourself: "Am I moving things forward, or am I just moving
them off my desktop?"
Most who resurrect old posts and grudges, including what one Goan said about
another, is done by men. As Selma has pointed, does this speak volumes?
