Joe and Bonita made a simple but striking Goan couple.

I first met Joe when I was new to Canada and he invited us to the whist drive
and hops he used to organize at the Church Hall of St Dunstan of Canterbury in
east Toronto.

Always good at putting up such events, he continued to do so both in and out of
the G.O A. with a committed volunteer and selfless spirit. Bonita was always
at his side doing her work for the community with equal zealousness.

Joe who came to Canada from Kenya, set up and ran a successful climate control
business which a few years ago he passed on to his son.

Even with his recent illness Joe continued to be seen at Goan functions with a
ready smile, a quick step and a helping hand.

I was saddened to hear that Joe passed away last night with his family around
him, from an obit notice of a Goan organization.

We will all miss you Joe. You left Toronto a brighter place than what you found.

Roland Francis
