Demolition of structures at Bangalore The authorities have woken up too late after the deluge and floods,as the structures were built by narrowing lakes and drains, mandatory permissions needed to be obtained were perhaps secured from authorities concerned or they purposely, knowingly turned a blind eye not for the love of fresh air. The residents have not been provided with natural justice, by issuing show cause notice or defend their rights for occupying residences for the last 30 years, How connections, of water, electricity etc were sanctioned to buildings if they were illegal? Those that have taken loans, the banks have scrutinized minutely all ownership documents ,permissions and licences and have not detected the fabricated nature of illegal documentation ., The Banks are otherwise very cautious in scrutinisations before advancing and securing loans. Did they also deliberativelycollude and overlooked the infirmities in the documents ? Taking to task the helpless residents by brute state force and machinery is reminiscent of authoritarian streaks .It is inhuman action before providing the residents time for seeking alternative habitation or redressal mechanism
The rightful course open to the authorities is to arrest and put behind bars all those unscrpulous builders, promoters, sanctioning authorities and demand full compensation to the unsuspecting buyers systematically taken for a ride., The emotional attitude, selectively towards only one resident who made the ultimate sacrifice in Patankhot terror attack cannot be an exception.
