Hi Doc, The person who gave away Tanzania's gold, when he was Minister of Natural Resources, went on to become the President. At the time, I was shouting as loud as I could that the former heads of Govt of the US and Canada who were on Barricks board, made a deal where Barrick would not pay taxes on the gold they produced and in return, the US and Canada would provide Tanzania with an equivalent amount in aid. No one cared. Not the higher ups nor the ignorant farmers. You must have read the articles I posted a few days ago from right wing newspapers in Canada that detail how many people Barrick has shot or killed in Tanzania. Right wing newspapers are now detailing the killings i.e. after a few billion dollars of gold were extracted and exported. The final step for Barrick to abandon Tanzania and sign the mine rights and its clean up problems to the Tanzanian Govt in exchange for the taxes the new Tz administration is suing for. Lastly, the technology that is being used and marketed today is real scary. I have seen youth so dependent on technology that they cannot complete minor tasks independently. Some have even reached the stage where they cannot memorize their home phone number. Their cell phone dies and they do not know how to contact their parents. That, in my opinion, is the human danger technology exposes us to. Mervyn
