In our (and several other) town in America, members of the Rotary Club have a
6-monthly road clean-up drive also called "adopt a (segment of the) highway"
and spend a Saturday morning to clean-up the stuff dropped by motorist. This
keeps the town clean and community members and leaders doing free community
service.
No (colonial) politics! Just good community service. Try it!

It is a shame that young Goans spend only one day to clean their towns and
villages. This is what we got after 1961. Municipalties and village authorities
are non existent except when it comes to sale of land and that in fraudulent
means.

Youth, Chorao spent the afternoon of the Republic Day Holiday??(26/01/2017)
cleaning/sweeping/ collecting plastic and solid waste from?the Chorao ferry
point. Again, they swept the entire road area of the?ferry crossing.
.......?with the co-operation of the Forest Department and that, the Panchayat
has respected their demand by sending the village waste?management team to lift
the waste. Analee even convinced her father to?join the drive. Way to go!

co-volunteers. ?Goa badly needs volunteers.Volunteer groups exists worldwide
except in our bangarchem Goem.
Many veteran Goannetters would rather write the usual crabby article and demand
the Prime Minister of India do something about cleaning the road.
Your article / story shows what can be done by even a few working together
including breaking down caste barriers which Goanetters are very fond of
talking about. ?I really like the ripple effects of your action on the
community and government officials.
