In our (and several other) town in America, members of the Rotary Club have a 6-monthly road clean-up drive also called "adopt a (segment of the) highway" and spend a Saturday morning to clean-up the stuff dropped by motorist. This keeps the town clean and community members and leaders doing free community service. No (colonial) politics! ?Just good community service. ?Try it!
