The Vigilance department should probe the multi crore scam in the illegal purchase of agricultural land at Maulinguem in Bicholim by the Goa Cricket Association while the cancer quack Dr Shekhar Salkar was the President.
A total of 2,92,900 sq mts of agricultural land was bought from Mumbai based Institute of Technology and Management for a whopping Rs 41,21,10,300 by four sale deeds executed on 15th October 2014 before the Sub-Registrar at Bicholim. Ironically, the Goa Cricket Association paid around Rs 1400 a sq mt for that agricultural land while the government prescribed rate for settlement land in the area was Rs 500. That property was originally owned by Dr Shekhar Salkar‘s family friends the Bicholim based Shetye family of Goa Steel Rolling Mills Pvt Ltd. The people of Goa must know how many out of those 41 crores did Dr Shekhar Salkar pocket.
