A FOOLISH STATEMENT BY MLA OPEN LETTER TO SIDHARTH
Your statement made on the floor of the assembly recently with respect to the handling of the coal by MPT and the pollution that it causes to the residents of Vasco seems to be like a blank cheque for the Adanis, Jindals and Vedanta to continue the rampant pollution the port city. Your sarcastic comments on people’s objections are simply unwarranted. Do not think that public are fools and only politicians are smart. The people of Vasco are keeping their windows closed to prevent and coal dust from getting into their houses such is the extent of coal dust pollution. People from Vasco are facing the brunt of coal dust pollution. It seems that in respect to coal consequences merely because you and other politicians are sitting in an air-conditioned car and in the office and residing in air –conditioned apartment. You are not aware of the hazards of coal dust pollution because he is not a victim of the same. In this regard it is totally unacceptable for supporting coal handling and transporting trough to Vasco city. Such reckless statements giving power /electricity to the people of Goa are unwarranted. Do you know that that it is not that easy job when no infrastructure in place neither competence is available in Goa and if people starts dying due to coal dust pollution what will be more important whether power or people? Such statements are not befitting for you as MLA and are an insult to the people of Vasco who have to contend with various serious health hazards. With respect to coal dust pollution statement smacks of ignorance and impunity. Sidharth would do well to get a first hand experience by staying in Vasco. In regards to your statement on people objecting each and every development made by BJP I must remind you the following incomplete and may be one by one project could have taken in hand in a systematical manner to complete them. See for example; 1. Multi level parking is a flop. 2. Bambolim subway is a disgrace. 3. Miramar Foot Bridge is another flop. 4. The concrete road is bumpy and uncomfortable. 5. Mala lake is in shambles.. 6. The list may be endless. 7. And note that 10 years you cannot clean a small creek! How long will the public are taken for a ride? The timing of the statement made by the Panjim MLA was such that his predecessor and successor Manohar Parrikar who was his mentor has to now to bear the responsibilities if the by- poll verdict comes in his favour. I feel pity for Parrikar to deal these incomplete jobs so called development.GO Stephen Dias Dona Paula Date: 13th May 2017
