Stephen Dias Dona Paula *MACRON: FRANCE’S* *RENAISSANCE* *Elvidio Miranda* On Sunday, 14th May, 2017, France inaugurated its new President, Emmanuel Macron as outgoing President Francois Hollande left the Champs Elysee, in the process becoming at 39 the youngest President in France since Napoleon Bonaparte. He was conferred the Legion of Honour and had just been handed over the Nuclear code by the outgoing president. The youthful new President in his inauguration speech said that France is on the verge of a renaissance, that he would seek to reconcile the French people, that he appreciated the efforts of his predecessors as remarkable and that he was inheriting a France that would invent the future. He emphasized that he would infuse energy and vigour in governance and that France is still a power to contend with in the world. The centrist Emmanuel Macron won the presidential election beating the far right candidate Marine le Pen by 66.1 percent of votes to 33.9 percent thus in effect reinforcing the fact that the majority of the French wanted to stay in the European Union and wanted to have a prudent immigration policy. The new French President, a former investment banker who is new to politics had suggested earlier that he would select a government consisting of men and women without much formal experience in politics and would be the President of all the French people. It is to be seen if his style of governance will lead to a better France, a promise that he made on his inauguration. <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> Virus-free. www.avast.com <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> <#m_-6820050852787176111_DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2>
