Gunjal and Tanvi on three points after round 4
PUNJAB: Goa's young guns put up spirited performances in the fourth
round of the ongoing 31st U-13 National Open and Girls Chess
Championship 2017, held at Jalandhar, Punjab, on Friday.
Tanvi Hadkonkar earned half a point following her drew with Dhyana Patel
of Gujarat in the girls' category.
In the boys' category however, Ayush Shirodkar lost against Tamil Nadu's
Herald K A while Ishan Pagi was defeated by Hari LR of Tamil Nadu. Om
Barde suffered a shock defeat against West Bengal's Rahul Krishna
Vishwanathan.
In the girls' category, West Bengal Brishty Mukherjee defeated Gunjal
while Tanvi drew against Dhyana Patel.
After the fourth round, both—Gunjal and Tanvi are on three points. Om
Barde is on two and half points while Ayush and Ishan are with 1.5
point.
Earlier in the third round, Ayush Shirodkar drew with Aditya Mukherjee
(Chattisgarh). While Ishan Pagi beat Mayukh Abhiguan Das (Assam), Om
Barde was held by Pranesh M (TN).
In the girls' category, Gunjal and Tanvi registered wins against their
respective rivals.
