To, All Editors in Goa, It is been observed for the last 6 months or so that Goa Cable TV operators are playing hide and seek to restore the cable transmission services for the whole of Goa. There was a hue and cry almost to all the consumers as the signal which is coming from Hubli is found interrupted presumably due to non payment by our Goa cable operators. The system is called Bhima Riddhi Digital Services ( BRDS). Yesterday the North Goa cable TV operators had a meeting and decided to pulled up or remove the existing system by replacing to an another version originating from Goa thus giving some relief to the customers. Present set of box has been delivered by the local cable operators for Rs.2000/ or so, and if they are to be replaced with another boxes the existing ones will tend to become invalid. Therefore the customers will incur the loss for the said amount paid by them which will be a burden on them. According to me the existing system called Bhima Riddhi Digital services provides quite a good reception. Even if it is replaced by the best in the world the problems will continue. Only the cable operators needs to be well trained to maintain the reception. Also the optic cable routing to be well coordinated with the Government/Panchayat /CCP that mostly goes from house to house , trees , electricity poles or even through their properties. If it is routed underground similar to HT underground cabling the faults will tend to minimize and the reception will be optimum. If that is done the customers who have already procured these set of boxes does not need to buy once again or replace to an another set of boxes. In my opinion the same boxes may be utilized with low cost on modifications in the internal electronic circuitry system by Bharat Electronic Ltd ( BEL) and Electronic Corporation of India Ltd ( ECIL).
