Nothing like pickles made in the home, Roland. Can I just add to the list above - 'Bombay Duck (Bombil) & Tendlim'? Years ago, after the publication of her Goan Cookery Book, my wife(Elsie) started making a variety of pickles - the favourites among the Goans being the two mentioned above. Among others, whose 'demands' for these two favourites we couldn't always satisfy was Pat Chapman, Founder & Owner of 'The Curry Club' in Covent Garden, London. Here;'s an extract from The Curry Club;'s Covent Garden Magazine: *"Pickle addicts will be pleased to hear that we are continuing with* *Elsie Maciel's delicious homemade Goan pickles. She has added* *Bombay Duck to her repertoire. Being hand prepared in a fairly* *small way, they are invariably dearer than some of the mass* *produced brands; but they are unusual and very tasty"* *Mervyn Maciel*
