IS LUCKY SEVEN UNLUCKY FOR PANJIMITES?
Lucky- 7 is an offshore vessel which was anchored in Marmagoa bay was being towed towards Mandovi River but unfortunately the same got stuck in the sand bar off Aguada bay and thereafter due to gusty winds/bad weather the vessel drifted towards Miramar beach and again got grounded very close to the beach. This incident getting grounded on the Miramar beach could not have happened if the owners of the vessel had listen to the Captain of Ports wherein they had not given the permission for bringing the vessel to the Mandovi River and also due to the objection raised by Minister of TCP Vijay Sardesai who had stated all offshore vessels from Mandovi river to be converted on onshore casinos so as too avoid polluting the river. According to me the burden of removing the vessel should be the responsibility of the owners and the government should not spent a pie towards their removal as the fault totally lies on the owners of the vessel. I am a bit surprised till date the Hon. Chief Minister has not spoken a word on the issue. I have noticed today ( Monday) there is a Dristy security service guards who have a small motor boat and makes several trips which are very short from shore to the vessel carrying some people. ( Photos are attached) Hopefully if this vessel has no possibility of removal within this monsoon season, the vessel may be required to cut into pieces to avoid environment damage and destruction of beach and the same should be undertaken by the experts of Shipping Corporation of India or equivalent government body under supervision of Captain of Ports.
