Sarto Esteves' book (on politics in Goa) was one of the few Goa-related titles available in the 1980s, a time when few books, if any, were being published in the English language on this region. *Politics and Political Leadership in Goa* was one of the first books in my collection, and I still see, in my mind's eye, its blue-and-yellow cover whenever I hear his name. If I remember correctly, it was one of the books I read closely. We are grateful to people like him for helping us understanding our complex region. Frederick.
