(I think it was Rajan Narayan who described him as "consistently inconsistent".) Good for him; too many people in Goa tie themselves in knots by supporting one party or one language for a decade or two, before they realise they've been taken for a ride! There have also have been more inconsistent than Aires -- someone once asked Dr Wilfred de Souza why he had changed parties seven times ... and this was in the late 'eighties or early 'nineties. He got furious and went on to explain why what he had done did not amount to "changing parties". To understand Aires, you need to know that he also loves to be in the thick of things. I guess if he gets up and finds his name not mentioned on some newspaper, it must be a like a terrible day. To be honest, we guys also get our "fix" from seeing our work and our "by-lines" in some place or the other. With the BJP having it's own in-house saffronised newspaper (Gova Doot), Aires is already getting quoted and cited there. So this should come as some relief. At least for awhile. But what happens when we need stronger 'kicks' in life?
