Yogesh Pratap Singh is one of those few IPS officers who remained incorrupt,
steadfast and public-serving in the mould of his previous generation like
Julius Ribeiro, John Lobo, Cajetan Miranda and Ronnie Mendonca.

22 years ago I had a half hour conversation with Singh in his Addl
Commissioner’s Bandra seaside office and his character came through. One could
sense this man was different.

Unlike other upright officers, he not only fought but more dangerously,
actively exposed corruption by maintaining records which when submitted to his
superiors were conveniently “lost”. His book “Carnage of Angels” when he was a
junior, earned him much harassment for the rest of his career through
inconsequential postings where he still served brilliantly and he subsequently
left the Force and became a lawyer and activist practising and giving public
lectures as a practising advocate in the High Court. Irrepressible, he wrote a
second book called “Vultures in Love”.

Here is his first book made into an international award-winning film “Kya Yahi
Sach Hai” (Is This The Real Truth) in 2010.
