CONVENTION OF THE GOAN DIASPORA FROM GOA INTO THE WORLD
Lisbon, Portugal June 15-17, 2007 Details at:

Finally my hunch was confirmed. The original post was Carmo's invitation for
dukors to leave Goa and come to Boca Raton, Florida. Previously Carmo wrote to
inform us he is a big real estate guy in Boca, thanks to his vodlem bizziness.
I am told that Boca is just like Goa; except there are no dukors and the mouth
watering Chouricos and Sorpatel.

Unfortunately the response to Carmo, the IIT Don, was like the story below
which was recently sent to me. Like the story, Carmo should explain himself in
greater detail, so that the rest of us can "sonzmotta murre". Perhaps Carmo
should start writing in konglish.

An old Italian Mafia Don is dying. He calls his grandson to his bed and says,
"Lissin-a me. I wanna for you to taka my chrome-plated 38 revolver so you will
always remember me."

Grandson: "But grandpa, I really don' lika guns. Howzabout you leava me your
Rolex watch innasted?"

Mafia Don: "Shuddaup an lissin: Somma day you gonna runna da bizness.... You
gonna have a beautifula wife, wid lotsa money, a biga home anna maybe a coupla
bambinos. Somma day you gonna comma home an' maybe find you wife inna bed wit
annudder man. Whaddaya gonna do then.....? Pointa to you watch an'
say...'Times up!'?"

On a more serious note, now that the election in Goa is over, Goanetters should
give the elected politicians (elected by the majority) the respect and freedom
to move Goa forward. That is what democracy is all about. We should wish them
well, and pray for their success. Hope they work together irrespective of
their ploitical parties and have the welfare of all Goans at heart. Goans have
shown in this election, the populace can throw some of the senior veterans out.
Thus, they have put the remainder on notice. It is time the rest of us sit
back and give the new political leaders a chance. A trip to Boca a la Carmo,
and a relaxing time on its beach watching other Bocas ani ..... would not hurt.

I noticed high on the agenda of Goans in Jobs. That is exactly what economic
development and tourism is all about. The motto of the Goans should be "What
can we do for Goa and not what Goa (politicians) can do for us".
Kind Regards, GL

Dukor is not a bad word in the Konkani language - Infact it should remind one
of tasty Goan Pork specialities like Chouricos and Sorpatel, and make ones'
mouth water.
