Fair enough. The logistics in NY and Toronto would be complicated, but its possible to sift through ideas. I am least interested in an exhibit, but can imagine artists from Goa (resident in) would welcome an opportunity to have their work seen abroad, perhaps works on paper.
Venues: Could be in hospital foyers/galleries, cultural organization, perhaps that rare gallery which would charge little or nothing. Curating: ?! An option is to attach it a Goan convention and have someone talk things through. Funding: Contributions from well-wishers Insurance: Or simple risk it Shipping: Lord! And a host of other issues. All valid. Now on the personal front: I agree with the idea of giving back and particularly in my case when one has not received something tangible. There is a certain honor to that, ergo purity. So sharing happens in the way it does. Questions are answered, although few ask; most simply lob ideas. Rarely does someone say, what would it take to do XYZ, what would it cost to do XYZ, what would you part with for $Botato, My lil girl saw your book and would like a painting on her wall -- are you up to it, some $$ and travel paid to Seattle, or Texas or wherever. Though worth having. That is true for, and of me. Most of what people have seen is my illustration, although lines are blurred. My work will never appear like it belongs in one category. Besides, I am just getting started and that's no excuse but my reality. My influence if at all has been about being around, and of late not worrying about what is art and what is an illustration. Finally, one rises and falls on the collective aspirations of one's people. The fall does not mean one fails, it simply means someone else claims your being.
