Cliff Richard wins £210,000 in damages over BBC privacy case | Media | The
Guardian

It’s not what they did, for after all they had an allegation from a man about
being sexually assaulted years ago, but how they did it. The BBC even submitted
their footage for an award which action the judge considered deserving of
additional punitive damages.

In this age of wild allegations and public shaming without charges being
proven, I personally am glad that Sir Cliff Richard was compensated £210K with
a Yorkshire Police separately settled £400K.

Now if only the Sisters of Charity sued the Jharkhand Police and Children’s
Welfare for a similar amount on behalf of the unwed mothers who were dragged in
a raid from the Nirmal Hriday premises to the police station in violation of
their privacy. Also a large sum for endangering new born babies’ welfare - the
very task with which Jharkhand’s CWC is entrusted.
