I agree with you that politicians can well afford to pay their own bills, most having become rich by devious means. Entitlement to state-paid medical expenses will merely serve as an inducement for political office especially if one is sick.

It seems Parikkar has returned from the US and was rushed to a Mumbai hospital. Should a patient with 'advanced pancreatic cancer' continue to be in charge of an important state like Goa? What has he achieved so far? If he doesn't resign of his own accord, is their a mechanism for the people to press him to quit? Else call upon the all-wise Modi to sack him. Surely there is no shortage of candidates for the CM's chair. The sole qualification is probably that he/she be a devoted BJP babu - be mindful of cows, don't eat beef, do yoga, read the Ramayana.
