Dear Bernado Colaco, I'm not sure I understood your question about how there can be biodiversity in the polluted creek under the current indian regime. However I can assure you the study is not fake Senhor Bernardo. The biodiversity of the creek is quite special because the sea enters the Creek during the high tide. The biodiversity refers to birds and all animals living close to the creek which needs to be protected. We have to ensure that ecology which was there when I was young boy must be reintroduced and protected. True, a polluted creek loses biodiversity, but the richness can be brought back by cleaning up pollution... just as the Thames river lost biodiversity during the Industrial revolution and now it is cleaned up. In the same way the St Inez creek can be revived by regulating tidal flushings and stopping sewage polluting the creek and river Mandovi.

St. Inez creek is a special natural ecosystem wherein regular tidal flushing taking place. During the high tide the sea water ingresses into the city, bringing home a rich genetic biodiversity from the estuarine Mandovi river and during the low tide the inland waters. Due to tidal variations and the flow of water during inter tidal periods, there is variety of fish like tigur and other estuarine species, contributing to the food chain as well as livelihoods of these harnessing bounties of mother nature.
