The people of Goa must unite on the crucial Madhei water dispute. It has to be a do or die battle as posterity will not forgive us for having allowed Goa to be a parched State. The government is duty bound to protect the interests of the State and should stop misguiding us and taking Goans for a ride.
Over the last few years our cash strapped government has squandered crores of rupees by way of legal fees paid to Atmaram Nadkarni and his bandwagon of advocates on this water dispute. But we have been hoodwinked and the end result is there for all to see. On the exception taken by the BJP to the citizens protesting at Povorim over Madhei, do they need to be reminded that while in the Opposition Manohar Parrikar and the BJP merrily blocked every highway possible and other roads while protesting on various issues. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. We are in a democracy and have a right to protest on issues concerning the State when the Government willfully abdicates in its duty and responsibility.
