Beyond the Grave Looking back at: Bye-bye Sonia Gandhi & Family For the week which passed (17/7/21-14) when I was alive on Planet Earth.
The other day I read a laughable suggestion when a Gandhi acolyte suggested Sonia Gandhi should split the party and start a new Congress Party. She should breakaway from the old party and start a S(onia)-Congress Party. Break away, fine - from what and whom, exactly? She is now supporting Shiv Sena in Maharashtra State which is a dedicated political party for Maharashtrians, by Maharashtrians, and of Maharashtians. Communalism at its best? Do we need to adopt this model for Goa? And all this to fight the evil BJP which has a Hindu national agenda as opposed to a Maharashtrian state agenda? She says it is an extreme case. Really? What does she mean? I cannot understand her logic as there are twenty and more states in India which are controlled by the BJP. Is she going to repeat her action another twenty times, and still claim the situation is extreme? Now, this does not make any sense, and so - what does she stand for? She is Italian-born but her son and daughter are Indian by birth (no doubt Subramanian Swamy will disagree with me). Obviously, Sonia & Family cannot wait to get into the power seat and are giving a lot of excuses which can only appeal to a dim-witted voter and our super-corrupt politicians. In doing so, they are also shedding their secular credentials which they don’t take seriously anyway. A real possibility for the Congress would be for someone who can muster enough of public recognition to break away from Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka. This is a much easier choice. The followers of the Congress and Indian people all over India who share secular values would welcome it. The only person who can pull of this role on a national level is Shashi Tharoor, an intelligent and good scholar. Otherwise, we hope some new, unknown upstart with a charismatic personality will be able to pull rabbits out of a hat. A lot is hanging in the balance. The challenger might prove to be another Mohan Singh, who knows? He will need to be a courageous lion with the thick skin of an elephant. The Congress Party continues to appear no more than a shaky old man who will fall down by the roadside - sooner than later and die. Maybe, it is a fitting ending to a sad story of the (not a) political party which gave us freedom from the British when all of today’s political parties were marginal, at best. Over the decades the Congress Party has been slowly becoming a very corrupt party. Sonia has opened the gates for all the criminals in India to don secular values, and now the worst elements in Indian society are more than willing to make deals with the devil and maybe even dance a tango with him with the possibility of falling in love? In the name of secularism they will destroy what we can still call secular! Turncoats and u-turncoats, and back-stab and for-ward stab - and the politicians prayers have been answered - even if they did not pray for it. Madan Sonia and family should see the big neon sign in the sky, and read the message which is loud and clear. It was a good dynasty but the end is near. Everything comes to an end even this planet of ours. Why not enjoy one’s old age in peace? Is there no end to ambition?
