Composed by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Recorded in 1960 by the Shirelles, a
black all-girl band, it went to number one in the Billboard Top 100 songs.

It has been recorded by many artists over the years including Brenda Lee, Helen
Shapiro, Little Eva, Dusty Springfield, Cher, The Four Season’s, Linda
Ronstadt, the Bee Gees, Smokey Robinson, Brotherhood of Man, Dionne Warwick,
Laura Branigan, Cilla Black and Carole King herself in 1971.

I love the no-frills, no-fuss version by the Shirelles.
