Influenced by Portuguese, African, Arabian and Indian cuisine, Goan dishes are 
distinct in taste. We often lament that the dishes prepared by our great 
grandmothers and grandmothers are gradually forgotten by each passing 
generation and not documented well. To give a better understanding behind the 
origins of the dishes and to learn more about different ingredients and even 
clay vessels that were used to prepare specific dishes have been featured in 
Fatima Da Silva’s book, ‘Inside a Goan Kitchen’. The book also features 
photographs of dishes and ingredients.
