A District Magistrate (otherwise known as a Collector, the highest administrative rank in one of 746 districts in India) in Tripura raids a wedding in contravention of the curfew.
He orders beating up and arresting of the groom, the officiating pundit, the in-laws, the bride’s brother who is she a surgeon and guests. For those who are judging us inappropriately please go through our documents and judge us whether we were right or just scapegoats. As per Hindu religious timings, the auspicious time for marriage (logno) was 11:30 pm. Which we already mentioned in our documents submitted at DM office with the wedding card attached (pic 1). As a result of which Dr. Shailesh kr. Yadav ji, IAS, granted us permission to conduct the ceremony (pic 2). Even we were given 4 vehicle passes so that we can move smoothly (if required) during the ceremony which was also issued from DM office, agartala undersigned by Dr. Shailesh kr yadav ji, IAS (pic 3). Even the pass mentions dates valid 26-04-2021 to 27-04-2021, which i guess was given keeping in mind the recent curfew guidelines. Moreover these orders were issued from your office only that too after the strict covid guidelines by Govt. Of Tripura dated 20.04.2021 (pic 4). We were a gathering of only 25-30 close relatives as per guidelines. So sir, Dr. Shailesh kr yadav ji, IAS, please tell me where was our fault? When you issued all those orders then why did you tore those papers infront of all? If it was not allowed then why you issued the order to conduct the ceremony? Is it illegal to follow hindu marriage act in my state? Should we not follow the auspicious time (logno)? If we are educated fools sir, then its also uneducated behavior using un parliamentary language infront of a crowd! Its also inhuman to arrest kids and women at 1 am and taking them to police station when kids of 9 yrs age are crying! Sir, we EDUCATED FOOLS request you not to fool simple people like us and harass at midnight even after issuance of orders from office. Lastly sir, I am post graduate resident of largest designated covid centre in kolkata. I have seen covid deaths closely and definately aware of the protocols. I never violate them and even strictly advised all my relatives for the same. I hope we residents of tripura don't have to face such nuisance during auspicious occasions like weddings. Unquote I have no sympathy for the explanation which is incorrect given that the permission must have been given for a home gathering and car permits for non-householders to get there with a clear proviso that wedding halls were not to function. What are your thoughts on all this, taking into context that the official had come on the raid just after witnessing the situation at the local hospital which must have been dire as is in the rest of India.
