I don’t know whether this is one more example of Nelson’s cavalier treatment of the English language or whether it is a brilliant play on the word that is used to describe Napoleon Bonaparte’s ignominious defeat.
Imagine a “loo of water” to describe the consequence of stepping into a foolish act. Well done Nelson!
