For the sake of keeping my sanity in good state, I have decided to avoid
reading anything coming out of Indian and international coverage of events and
incidents in Goa and the rest of India.

After all, there is only so much you can read about drug dealing and
prostitution in Calangute, land grabbing, inept governance, trash accumulation,
restoring Temples destroyed by the Portuguese (what’s wrong with purchasing
land to build new ones, instead of ugly cookie cutter illegally constructed
housing), cheating of Indian banks on a scale never experienced before, burning
of 600 trains all over India, despicable treatment of Indian Muslim citizens,
bribery and corruption of top public servants, ninety percent of politicians
and police forces and a host of other poor governance issues that no civilized
nation should have to endure.

So goodbye Goa and India news. I’ll stick to issues in my saner part of the
world where the worst thing you can read about is the expanding metropolis or a
drug deal going wrong and a criminal with a long rap sheet getting shot.
