Meanwhile, the Congress MLA from Calangute, Mr Agnelo Fernandes said that he was offered Rs 20 crore by a prominent leader from opposition but he refused to accept the bait and resign his seat. He said that offer was renewed through a former public representative from his constituency. Mr Fernandes also said that similar offers were made to other Congress MLAs Mr Chandrakant Kavlekar, Mr Francis Silveira, Mr Shyam Satardekar and Mr Gurudas Gawas and that they all refused to bite the bait. The sources in the Congress party also alleged that attempts were made to kidnap at least one of its MLAs but proved unsuccessful.
