XAVIER'S NEWS & FEATURES E-SERVICE (XNFES)
M.A. & M.Com Inaugural Programme at Xavier's
"India is a young country, with a large population of people in the working
age group, unlike the developed countries which have a vast aging
population. Hence, there are many global opportunities offered to Indians.
However our youth lacks soft skills. St. Xavier's provides a holistic
approach to education for the all round development" said Mr. B. Rajasekhar
, Head of the Dept. of Commerce on the occasion of the inauguration of the
new academic year, for the students of the Abbé Faria Post Graduate
Department of Psychology and the Post Graduate department of Commerce, held
recently at St. Xavier's College, Mapusa.
The freshers of MA Part I and M.Com I introduced themselves and indicated
the reasons for joining this programme, as well as the happiness to be at
Xavier's.
Welcoming Mr. B. Rajasekhar, for this inaugural programme, the Reader of the
Abbé Faria Post Graduate Department of Psychology, Dr. Mridula Mishra
highlighted the activities and achievements of this Department. She said
that this Post Graduate Department was the first PG Department offered to
any affiliated College by Goa University. "This Department offers three
specializations in the fields of Clinical Psychology, Human Resource
Management and Counselling Psychology" - she added.
Ms. Jane Lobo, lecturer in the PG department of Commerce stated that the
M.Com I students had performed extremely well in the 1st Semester exams.
Mr. Sagar Kunde (M.A II) shared his experiences as a Part I student and Mr.
Karl de Souza (M.A.II) made a power point presentation of the programmes to
be conducted in 2007-2008. Ms. Suhas Shetgovekar and Ms. Michelle Pinheiro
conducted ice breakers programme for mutual familiarization. Ms. Nezima
Fernandes (M.A.II) proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Crystal Cardoz (M.Com
II) was the compere.
