There have been many a thread on Goanet about Hitler and his relationship with
the Catholic Church. Last post by Cornel educated Bhandare and the rest of us
about "Catholic Fascists".
Cornel Da Costa may want to read the recently published book "A Special
Mission" by Dan Kurzman. The author (American journalist) talks about the
enmity between Hitler and the Church and Pope Pius XII. The book reports the
Nazis even planned a plot to kidnap the Pope and take him to either Germany or
Liechtenstein. Another possibility Hitler mentioned at a meeting, when
Mussolini was deposed and Hitler blamed the Pope. According to the author,
Hitler suggested assassination of the Pope.
The Pope on his part was very concerned that alienating Hitler may lead the
Nazis to destroy the Vatican and the Church. Hitler already had overrun Italy.
The Nazis had already mercilessly destroyed the Jews and Catholics of Poland.
In spite of the lofty writings against Goan casteism, was our "practicing
scholar" really displaying casteism - inflating one's resume by demeaning
another individual (moi) and / or institution?
