Thanks for your kind reply. Do bear in mind that I have been a teacher for
40 plus years from primary, secondary, further, to 33 years in university
education. Besides my subject teaching, I have taught English (part-time and
voluntarily) to hundreds barely literate (and numerate) Brits. But more
importantly, I have come across many impediments to pretty intelligent adult
students who can be helped if we can figure out exactly what is causing the
problem. Some day I would like to write a small booklet on these kind of
issues. The problems are truly unexpected and fascinating.
I am glad you have been helpful re Eric but regarding the computers that
will change the spoken word for the written one instantaneously, (after
first understanding a particular person's style, intonation etc) these have
been around for at least ten years. However, they cannot deal with a lack of
clear structure. One particular make I recommended to students was called
the Dragon but the software would be much more developed now and well beyond
what I had known.
Finally Venantius, I have to say that your written word is impressive.
Where/how did you pick up the craft and where are you located?
